CORE LIFESAVING SKILLS

NAVIGATE THE POOL

All our clients learn to Navigate the Pool

This ensures that should your child fall into the water away from a pool exit or ladder and is not strong enough to pull themselves out they can get to a place where exiting the pool is easier.

This skill also improves motor planning.

SWIM
TO SAFETY

All our clients learn to Swim to Safety.

Your child will learn to swim with proper posture and position so they can get from A to B, get around an obstacle in the pool, or return to the side after a fall.

Learning to swim reduces your child's risk of drowning by 88%.

TURN BACK TO SAFETY

All our clients learn to Turn Back to Safety.

This helps your child return to a point of safety and mitigates such accidents as slipping or falling off a step or other area where your child can reach.

Without this skill your child is left with no good options for safety after a slip.

SELF-RESCUE

All our clients learn to Self-Rescue.

This skill ensures that your child masters the fundamentals of decision making and staying calm in the water in order to ensure a safe and calm response to a sudden submersion.

This skill improves safety beyond simply learning to swim.

SUPPLEMENTARY SKILLS

ARM INCORPORATION

When children are assessed as ready, our programs will move forward with incorporating arms in such a way as to not need any further instruction on this.

With this skill, your child will be able to learn to dive for toys, lift their head for a breath, and will be able to learn to snorkel and dive!

This skill also improves motor planning.

BREATHING PATTERNS

When children are assessed as ready, our programs will move forward with teaching your child breathing patterns in such a way that they can incorporate breath as works for them.

With this skill your child will be able to swim farther and tire less quickly. This skill improves your child's ability to play and keep up with older swimmers.

MID SWIM ROLL TO REST

When children are assessed as ready they will move to learning how to float on their back and subsequently to roll over onto their back mid swim. This particular skill requires self trust and so it is best if children have a basic confidence in the water to begin.

With this skill your child can accompany you on a longer swim and take breaks as necessary.

MID SWIM BREATH

When children are assessed as ready, our programs will move forward with teaching your child to take a breath mid swim.

Your child need to have completed the breathing patterns skill in order to learn this.

The ability to lift the head to breath mid swim is not necessary in children who can roll but is sometimes preferred by the child.
